Anxious much?
Some days, it feels like we’re in a constant state of “never been here before” and figuring everything out seems overwhelming. I can relate 100%.
And with this state, it’s natural to feel some level of anxiety (at least, I think it is*), especially when the world is in crisis, opinions are divided, politics are dark and on and on and on. Add to this the stress of family (perhaps you’re a parent), relationships and all of the other life issues that anyone of us is dealing with and there’s bound to be internal feelings of turmoil.
First, if you feel you are at an extreme, please don’t hesitate to contact someone - whether it be a friend or healthcare professional, DO IT. Please. There’s no shame is reaching out for help. Not. At. All.
Since sharing is caring, here are some coping mechanisms for the world we’re living in right now:
Meditation - taking time during the day to focus, relax and truly “think your thoughts” can be beneficial. Try it - even if you can only manage to find a few minutes. Need support? You can also check out meditation apps such as Calm and Headspace.
Personal wellness - what does personal wellness mean to you? The answer may vary but I encourage you to research and explore various wellness options and pick what works for you and your lifestyle. For me, it’s a few minutes of mediation (whatever I can fit in), my new sauna blanket (I love it!), tea and this blog.
Self care - take time for yourself! Whatever time you can find, be sure to make time to decompress and clear your head. “They” say you can only truly help others once you’ve helped yourself. Self care is beneficial for you and your loved ones.
It’s hard to not sweat the small stuff …. but keep trying. Peace out.
