Skincare throwback

If you’re a dermatologist, stop reading right here. For those who appreciate a throwback, please stick with me.

I have to admit some guilty pleasures involve throwbacks to the good old days (the 80s, obv), even when it comes to skincare. One of my OG favorites is Sea Breeze toner. Some of you may cringe but if you’re the type who thinks that a toner isn’t working if it doesn’t sting, then let’s continue.

I love Sea Breeze. Period. No dermatologist will convince me otherwise. Do I know it’s primarily alcohol? Yes. Do I care? Not really. I just can’t resist the nostalgic scent, iconic packaging and unique tingle. Dermatologists might scoff - and I totally get it. But, I just can’t help myself. There is just something about it that brings me back to my pre-teen days and, sometimes, my skin just doesn’t feel fully clean without it.

Did you know that Sea Breeze also makes a body wash? I discovered it a couple of years ago. It offers that same tingle, but in a less “this is bad for me” kinda way. It’s cool and refreshing, and is perfect on a hot day or after a good workout. Even better, it comes in a large size (with a pump) to last you through the steamy summer months.

I buy the body wash on Amazon as I’ve never seen it at a local US retailer. The reviews indicate that the body wash is a favorite in Japan (Sea Breeze might be owned by Shiseido but this is not verified). I can only say that I appreciate the classic smell, tingle and the beloved nostalgia that only Sea Breeze can bring. Whether you stick to the OG Sea Breeze classic toner or branch out and try the Sea Breeze body wash, let guilty thoughts of your dermatologist fade away as the cooling sets in and brings you back to a state of 80s bliss.

Try it for yourself. Just don’t tell your derm!
