Summer skincare
Summertime means warm temps and less clothing. Which sometimes causes angst, especially for those who aren’t graced with perfect skin. If you’re one of the zillions of imperfect skin people (like me), here are some favorite products to keep your skin in show-worthy condition.
A serum for the body? Yes, yes and yes. This product seems so luxurious …. because it is. I put this on after a shower and before my regular moisturizer. Leaves skin feeling amazing and not at all sticky. Love this stuff.
This is one of my all-time favorite body scrubs. The consistency is amazing and my skin feels SO SOFT after each use. Perfect for those of us, including myself, who suffer from keratosis pilaris (KP) - those annoying, little bumps on arms and legs. This scrub is one of my few go to’s that I buy over and over again. It’s not cheap but the jar lasts a long time.
If you haven't tried The Ordinary, I recommend checking out this brand. They make a wide range of products and are super wallet-friendly (many are less than $10). Their Lactic Acid serum comes in two strengths and is gentle, yet effective at keeping skin smooth and clear. I started with the 5% but graduated to the 10% version over time. I use this on my arms to help treat my keratosis pillars (KP) and also dab on any blemishes that pop up from time to time (ahem). They also make a salicylic acid serum that’s worth a try, too.
Thayer’s Witch Hazel
I lean toward natural products when I can and when I think they truly work. Thayer’s witch hazel is a natural way to refresh your skin anytime during the day. My favorite is the Thayer’s witch hazel pads - these contain camphor and feel so refreshing (they’re also great if you keep them in the fridge for a quick pick me up on hot days). Or keep the Thayer’s spray version next to your bed for a quick spritz before dozing offf. Gentle, effective and wallet-friendly.
Make these favorites a staple in your bathroom and keep that glow all year long.
